About This Place

Located at 1629 W Henderson St in Cleburne, TX, West End Grill offers a hearty and soul-satisfying dining experience that perfectly captures the essence of classic American comfort food with a Texas twist. This beloved local gem has been serving up memorable meals for over three decades, earning its reputation as a cherished mom-and-pop restaurant where great food and friendly service feel like home.

West End Grill’s menu is a delightful celebration of robust, flavorful dishes that cater to both buffet lovers and those who prefer made-to-order specialties. The vast salad bar alone is a sight to behold—overflowing with fresh, vibrant ingredients that invite you to customize your plate with colorful, crisp textures and garden-fresh flavors. Whether you’re digging into a perfectly crafted chopped BBQ sandwich or indulging in a generous helping of their renowned chicken fried steak, each bite bursts with rich, deeply satisfying tastes.

The entrées showcase a menu that is both indulgent and thoughtfully prepared. From the savory allure of the Brisket Nachos piled high with tender smoked beef to the crispy, golden notes of chicken tenders paired with a baked potato loaded with chopped beef, the variety speaks to every craving. Fans of classic steak will be captivated by the Espresso-rubbed 10 oz. filet cut strip steak – an extraordinary cut enveloped in a bold, aromatic espresso herb crust and crowned with flash-fried tobacco onions, delighting both the eyes and palate. For something uniquely elevated, the Filet Bearnaise, stuffed with succulent lobster meat and finished with a rich Bearnaise sauce, promises an indulgent experience that is nothing short of luxurious.

Appetizer selections blend sophistication with comfort, like the Sesame Tuna, featuring Hawaiian ahi tuna coated in black and white sesame seeds and paired with a perfectly balanced sesame seaweed salad, wasabi, and soy sauce. Or the Bleu Cheese Tarts, whose flaky puff pastry rounds hold a luscious mixture of bleu cheese, cream cheese, sundried tomatoes, and the crunch of chopped walnuts, finished with a fresh pesto and parmesan sprinkle. Each starter primes your senses for the main event, opening the door to a flourishing feast.

What truly sets West End Grill apart is the warm, welcoming atmosphere felt as soon as you walk through the door. Guests frequently praise the genuinely friendly and attentive service, with mentions of staff like Eli delivering exceptional hospitality that makes every visit feel special. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual lunch, indulging in their dessert classics like the heavenly banana pudding or peach cobbler, or enjoying a refreshing Strawberry Daiquiri or bold Bloody Mary, the vibe at West End Grill is always one of relaxed comfort and cheerful community.

Longtime patrons and visitors alike consistently applaud the restaurant’s value and quality. As Barbara Goldsborough notes, this is a place worth driving miles for—a testament to the hearty portions, savory flavors, and the unbeatable feeling of dining at a beloved local institution. Betty’s enthusiasm for the burger and onion rings, the overflowing salad bar, and the irresistible cobbler perfectly encapsulates the affection many feel here. Meanwhile, David Land’s praise for the buffet and the tasty egg rolls highlights the quality across both traditional and more inventive offerings.

Whether you’re craving smoky ribs beside a cold Bud Light or a comforting schnitzel accompanied by a creamy omelette, West End Grill skillfully blends familiar favorites with culinary care that keeps guests returning again and again. It’s a place where every dish tells a story of Southern hospitality and culinary dedication, making it a must-visit stop for both locals and travelers passing through Cleburne.

35 years! That should tell you something. A mom and pop restaurant that's always busy. I love their buffet and salad bar. And my husband loves their simple chopped beef sandwich and chips. I've never tried their breakfast as we don't live in town, but that should tell you something else about them. We'll drive 40 miles to have a lunch date here.

Okay food and selections, could be a bit better quality wise. Still enjoyed this southern hole in the wall! I was disappointed in the chicken fried steak, it just seemed to be prepared way ahead of time, same with the catfish. I was looking forward to eating here again, haven't been since 2013. if I come back I will order off the menu in hopes of better food! love the esthetic of the place and I almost bought a hat.

Loved the whole experience. They were a little understaffed that day because the dirty plates sat at our table for extended periods of time but when one asked them to remove it, they would do it immediately. The brisket was the best ever tasted and it's the second time I been there. Drove in from fort Worth just to eat there. It was worth the trip.
